Student Placements

Student placements are currently a component of a University degree, Technical and Further Education (TAFE) or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) program coursework. Clinical experience may also be required to complete a student's professional registration.   

DCSI accommodates student placements and requests for work experience from school-age children in Year 11 or 12 where the request fits with departmental need.

Students are engaged to assist with appropriate activities that contribute to the achievement of their stated learning goals, and are allocated a DCSI Manager/Supervisor to provide oversight and direction of work during their time in the Department. 

Whilst on placement a student is to observe the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector and the DCSI Respectful Treatment at Work Policy, and may be required to undergo a National Criminal History Record Check and Screening Assessment by the DCSI Screening Unit prior to starting their placement. The form to be completed will be dependent upon the type of work the student will undertake, be it with children, people with disability, vulnerable people or in the aged care sector.
