Funding now available for youth networks

2016-03-02

Youth Minister Zoe Bettison says councils, community groups and not-for-profit organisations can now apply for up to $5000 under the 2016 Youth Network Grant program.

"Youth networks are a way of bringing organisations such as not-for-profits and local government together to support the needs of young people," Ms Bettison said.

"By coordinating and integrating local efforts into strong networks we can deliver better outcomes and services for young people in that local area."

Youth Network Grants aim to increase the capacity of the youth sector by supporting youth networks to:

  • collaborate, share and disseminate information
  • identify and respond to the needs of young people in their community
  • develop the skills of network members.

"Both formal and informal youth networks can apply for a grant to fund activities including regular meetings to share ideas and hear from guest speakers about current issues relevant to the local community," Ms Bettison said.

"Networks can also apply for funding to develop the skills and abilities of their members, or to develop resources for the young people they work with.

"By encouraging organisations to work together and share information, we are creating collaborative environments that support the best possible outcomes for young South Australians."

Applications for the 2016 Youth Network Grants close on Monday 18 March 2016. To apply online, or for more information, visit the Office for Youth website at www.officeforyouth.sa.gov.au or call (08) 8207 0452.
