State Aboriginal Women's Gatherings in Yalata and Ceduna
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women on the Far West Coast are discussing a range of matters this week at the final two State Aboriginal Women’s Gatherings for 2016.
A gathering was held at Yalata yesterday (Monday 21 November) while a second is taking place today (Tuesday 22 November) at Ceduna.
The gatherings give women the opportunity to learn from each other, share experiences and discuss issues in a safe and supportive environment. Five gatherings have been held across South Australia in 2016, giving women in regional areas greater opportunities to network and share community news.
The Office for Women has partnered with the Far West Coast Women’s Council, and this week’s gatherings include guest speakers on topics including the Women’s Legal Services SA Inc., the Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service, maternal and infant care, sports and recreation, and natural resources management.
