Help for people affected by Murray Bridge fire
The Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) continues to coordinate support for people affected by the Thomas Foods International, at Murray Bridge. The fire, on 3 January, destroyed that abattoir and left 1,400 workers with an uncertain future.
DCSI established a Community Information Centre at the Murray Bridge Town Hall (13-17 Bridge Street), where anyone affected by the fire could seek assistance. In the first few days of operations, more than 400 people visited the centre.
The department’s recovery hotline (1800 302 787) was also quickly established, and continues to operate for people affected by the fire.
